Edwards (960A-8RF) 8 inch backbox – round, flush

The Edwards 960A-8RF is an 8-inch round flush speaker back box for indoor fire-alarm voice-communication systems. Specifically, it is the recommended flush mounting accessory for Edwards’ 8-inch 964 and 965 Series ceiling speakers and speaker-strobes. Furthermore, it is constructed from satin-coat steel for long service life.

First, the 960A-8RF is round and sized for the 8-inch speaker baffle. Then it includes flexible mounting straps. As a result, it can be used in poured-concrete-form installations as well as standard suspended-ceiling or drywall ceiling layouts.

Typical Use Case

Specifically, the 960A-8RF is paired with these Edwards speakers and speaker-strobes:

• EST 964 Series — 8-inch 25 Vrms ceiling speakers and speaker-strobes
• EST 965 Series — 8-inch 70 Vrms ceiling speakers and speaker-strobes

Therefore, the device-and-box pair forms an integrated round flush ceiling install. As a result, the speaker baffle sits flat against the finished ceiling surface.
