It’s Fire Prevention Week at Life Safety Consultants

It’s Fire Prevention Week at Life Safety ConsultantsThis week, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is hosting its annual Fire Prevention Week to raise awareness about what we can do to prevent fires in our homes and workplaces. On their website, the NFPA offers a variety of educational materials to help people keep their properties fire safe, and teach them what to do in the event of a fire emergency.

This year, the theme of Fire Prevention Week is “Don’t Wait – Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years.”

This is the third year the NFPA has focused on smoke alarms during Fire Prevention Week, and this time they want to make sure people know that these life-saving devices don’t last forever. To find out how old a smoke alarm is, you can check the back of the alarm to find the date of manufacture. If that date is longer than 10 years old, the NFPA is urging you to replace your smoke alarms with new models. This way, you can rest easy knowing your first line of defense against fire damage is fully functional and as effective as possible.
