The Edwards 280A-PL is a white plastic reversible mounting plate for the 280B series heat detectors. First, the plate attaches to a standard North American 3-1/2-inch or 4-inch octagon box. Then, the 280B heat sensor locks in place with a twist. As a result, surface or flush installation works equally well from one part number.
Specifically, the 280A-PL ships as standard equipment with every 280B series heat sensor. Therefore, the 280A-PL is the replacement part when an original plate is lost, damaged, or repurposed. In addition, the plate is reversible so the same part handles both surface and semi-flush orientations.
Edwards 280A-PL features
The plate includes a tamper-resistant locking finger. Furthermore, the finger holds the heat detector firmly against casual removal. However, a service technician can release the finger with a screwdriver in seconds, which keeps planned head replacement quick. Also, the reduced theft and tamper exposure suits unattended occupancies such as schools, hotel corridors, and storage areas.
