Edwards (869-WPB) Weatherproof back box

The Edwards 869-WPB is the weatherproof back box for Edwards Signaling 860-Series electronic horn-strobe appliances. Specifically, it lets you mount a 869STR indoor flush-mount horn-strobe outdoors or in damp, dusty, or harsh environments. As a result, you get one of Edwards’s most popular industrial horn-strobes in places where the standard flush-mount enclosure is not suitable.

First, the 869-WPB is supplied as a surface-mount enclosure with a gasketed weatherproof seal. Then the 867STR or 869STR horn-strobe assembly mounts directly to the back box with the supplied hardware. Therefore, the appliance is protected from weather, debris, and construction-phase contamination on the worksite.

Compatible Horn-Strobe Appliances

Furthermore, the 869-WPB pairs with the Edwards 867STR (indoor surface mount) and 869STR (indoor flush or panel mount) horn-strobe families. Specifically, that includes:

• 867STR(C/R/G/B/A)-N5 — 120 V AC variants
• 867STR(C/R/G/B/A)-AQ — 24 V AC/DC variants
• 869STR(C/R/G/B/A)-N5 — 120 V AC variants
• 869STR(C/R/G/B/A)-AQ — 24 V AC/DC variants

Where the lens color codes are C = Clear, R = Red, G = Green, B = Blue, A = Amber.

Installation Hardware Included

Also, the 869-WPB ships with four #10 x 1¼-inch screws and caplugs in the enclosed parts bag. In addition, a weatherproof gasket (P-007549-0082) is included. Therefore, the box is ready to install out of the carton — no additional accessories required.

However, the gasket must be installed with the hook flange facing outward per the installation guide. As a result, careful attention to gasket orientation is required for the weatherproof rating to apply.

What This Part Is Not

However, the 869-WPB is not a horn-strobe by itself. Specifically, it is an accessory back box — order it alongside (or for retrofit of) an 867STR or 869STR appliance. Also, the 869-WPB is not for the Edwards Integrity 757 Series; those use the 757A-WB weatherproof box.
