Kidde (AB4G-SB) Surface box – for sounder base use with -ab4g models only

The Kidde AB4G-SB surface box is the optional surface mount enclosure for the Signature Series AB4G sounder base family. Specifically, it accepts the SIGA-AB4G, SIGA-AB4GT, and SIGA-AB4G-LF sounder bases. As a result, installations without a recessed electrical box can still use Signature sounder bases.

First, the AB4G-SB is a plastic housing measuring 6.8 in (173 mm) diameter by 1.8 in (46 mm) deep. Then, it ships with reinforcing plates that lock conduit connectors into each knockout. Therefore, the field installer first removes a knockout, slides the supplied reinforcing plate into the housing, and then installs the conduit connector and nut.

In addition, the AB4G-SB color and styling match the Signature sounder base. As a result, the finished surface assembly looks like an intentional design element rather than a retrofit. Furthermore, the same box works across the entire AB4G family — fire only, fire+CO, and low-frequency.
