The Altronix AL1024ULXR is the red-enclosure variant of the AL1024ULX dual-listed 24VDC power supply. Specifically, it supplies 10 A continuous for access control or 8 A continuous for fire protective signaling, in a red BC-series cabinet.

First, the AL1024ULXR converts 115VAC, 60Hz mains into a single 24VDC non-power-limited output. Then, an integrated charger maintains up to two 12VDC / 12Ah backup batteries. In addition, the unit transitions to battery on AC loss with zero voltage drop. As a result, this is a common choice when local code or AHJ preference calls for a red fire-rated enclosure on the wall. Therefore, the AL1024ULXR is widely used as a NAC extender or auxiliary fire-system power source.

Dual-Listed: Access vs. Fire Output Ratings

Furthermore, the AL1024ULXR carries different continuous-current ratings depending on its end use. Specifically, the unit is rated 10 A continuous for UL 294 access-control service. For UL 1481 fire protective signaling, the supply is rated 8 A continuous. Therefore, derate to 8 A maximum when applying the unit in any fire-alarm or NAC-extender role.
