The POTTER CSS-10 is a CoilKeeper coil supervisory switch for fire sprinkler releasing systems. Specifically, it supervises the solenoid coil on a preaction or deluge valve. As a result, it helps meet the supervision requirements of NFPA 13. The unit monitors the coil electronically. Then it confirms whether the coil is properly installed on the valve stem.
How the POTTER CSS-10 Monitors a Coil
The CSS-10 watches the coil’s electrical condition at all times. First, local LEDs show when the coil sits normally on the valve body. Also, an LED indicates when the coil is removed for maintenance. In addition, the device signals when the releasing circuit is energized. Furthermore, it reports an open or shorted coil. Therefore, technicians can spot a missing or failed coil quickly.
