Bosch (D344-5) Sampling tube 5ft [ 1.5 m ]

The Bosch D344-5 is a 5-foot (1.5 m) sample tube for Bosch duct smoke detector housings. First, the tube draws an air sample from inside a supply or return duct. Then the duct detector head analyzes the sample for smoke.

Specifically, the D344-5 is sized for ducts up to roughly 5 feet wide. In addition, sample tubes from the D344 family come in graduated lengths so installers can match tube length to duct width. As a result, sample velocity stays correct across HVAC layouts.

Where the Bosch D344-5 fits

Use the D344-5 with Bosch duct smoke detector housings on commercial HVAC systems. For example, mechanical rooms, return air ducts, and supply plenums in offices, schools, and healthcare buildings. However, this tube is a duct-detector accessory only. Therefore, it does not replace open-area smoke detectors.

Installation notes

First, install the inlet tube so its perforations face into the airflow. Then seal the tube penetration through the duct wall. Also verify duct air velocity is within the duct detector head’s listed range. Finally, the duct housing itself carries the UL 268A listing, not the tube as a stand-alone part.
