The Edwards EC-LED is a remote LED alarm indicator for EC2-series conventional smoke detectors. First, it lets technicians see which detector is in alarm without opening the ceiling. As a result, fault isolation is faster in concealed-space installations.
Edwards EC-LED application
Install the EC-LED at a visible location below an above-ceiling, in-duct, or in-attic detector. Then, wire it to the alarm-LED terminals of the parent EC2-series detector base. As a result, the remote indicator mirrors the alarm state of the host detector. In addition, this satisfies NFPA 72 requirements for visibility of concealed initiating devices.
What this unit is – and is not
This is a passive remote LED accessory. Specifically, it draws its operating current and signal from the detector base, not from a separate supervised circuit. As a result, it does NOT include addressable communication, panel-level reporting, or auxiliary contact functions. For Signature Series intelligent detectors, see the SIGA-LED accessory instead.
Verified scope
- Function: remote alarm indicator slaved to an EC2-series conventional detector base
- Indicator: red LED, illuminated on alarm
- Wiring: two-wire connection to the parent detector base’s alarm-LED terminals
- Mounting: standard North American 1-gang electrical box
- Required host: a compatible EC2-series conventional detector with remote-LED terminals
Compatibility
The Edwards EC-LED is intended specifically for Edwards EC2-series conventional smoke and heat detectors that provide remote-LED output terminals on the base. Therefore, do not substitute it for the Signature SIGA-LED, which is a different accessory for intelligent SIGA-SB bases.
