EDWARDS (AMK-RN) Audio Mounting Kit

The Edwards AMK-RN Audio Mounting Kit holds up to three ACHS option cards. As a result, it provides a place for audio channel selector cards when no VM-PMI is installed. Also, it lets integrators add audio routing without using the full paging interface.

First, this kit belongs to the Kidde Vigilant VM Series life safety platform. Therefore, it is not an EST3 or Genesis platform accessory. In fact, the underlying Vigilant VM-1 documentation lists the AMK-RN as the dedicated mounting solution for ACHS cards in panels lacking a VM-PMI.

What the Edwards AMK-RN does

The kit provides a sheet-metal mounting bracket and the hardware to secure ACHS option cards in a VM-1 enclosure. Each AMK-RN supports up to three ACHS cards. In addition, it routes the analog preamp signal from those cards to downstream amplifier inputs. As a result, technicians can stage multi-channel audio without dedicating space to the VM-PMI paging interface.

Where it fits in the Vigilant VM system

The AMK-RN installs in a VM-1 main panel, a VM-MFC multi-function chassis, or a VM-RAB remote audio bay. First, secure the bracket to the panel backbox. Then, slide each ACHS card into its position and engage the captive screws. Finally, route the EAEC digital audio input and the supervised preamp output wiring per the VM-1 Technical Reference Manual.

What this kit is not

The AMK-RN does not power, supervise, or generate audio on its own. Instead, the ACHS card performs the audio decoding. Therefore, this kit is a passive mechanical accessory and carries no UL 864 part-level listing.
