The Edwards Signaling 113-GN-03K1 is a GuardSwitch magnetic reed contact. Specifically, it is the normally-closed (NC) variant with a 3-foot factory-attached cable, rated to 0.5 amp switching.
First, the magnet mounts to the moving part (door, gate, panel). Then the reed switch mounts to the fixed frame. When the magnet separates from the reed, the switch state changes. As a result, the host alarm or supervisory circuit reports the position change.
Verified specifications
- Contact type: normally closed (NC)
- Maximum switching current: 0.5 A
- Cable: 3 ft (0.9 m) factory-attached
- Series: Edwards Signaling 113-GN GuardSwitch family
- Legacy cross-reference: Sentrol 113-GN-03K1 (the GuardSwitch line traces back to the Sentrol/UTC product family)
Application
Typical uses include door and gate position monitoring on tamper-supervised circuits. In addition, it suits enclosure-door monitoring on electrical rooms, control panels, and equipment cabinets. Furthermore, the NC contact configuration makes it well-suited to supervised-circuit inputs that fail to the active state when the wire breaks.
What this is NOT
- Not a fire alarm initiating device on its own — it is a position-monitoring contact. Whether it appears as a supervisory, trouble, or alarm condition depends on how the host panel input is programmed.
- Not a high-current relay — 0.5 A is the maximum switching rating; do not switch heavier loads through this contact.
Installation notes
Maintain the recommended magnet-to-reed gap per the GuardSwitch installation instructions. Furthermore, route the 3 ft cable cleanly and provide strain relief at the mounting point. Finally, when used on a supervised input, install the appropriate end-of-line resistor per the host panel’s input specification.
