The Edwards EOL-10 is a 10K ohm end-of-line supervisory resistor for fire alarm circuits. First, it terminates the far end of an Initiating Device Circuit, Notification Appliance Circuit, or auxiliary supervised circuit. As a result, the fire alarm control panel can detect open and short conditions on the wire run.
How an EOL resistor supervises a circuit
The panel applies a small monitoring current down the wire run. Then, the EOL resistor returns a known reference current at the far end. As a result, a missing resistor reads as an open circuit. In addition, a short on the line reads as a much higher current than the EOL allows. Therefore, the panel can distinguish “wire OK” from “wire broken” from “wire shorted” with one passive component.
Where the Edwards EOL-10 is used
The 10K value matches Edwards conventional panels and modules that specify a 10K ohm EOL resistance. Specifically, consult the panel’s installation manual for the exact EOL value required by each circuit type. Furthermore, different circuits on the same panel can require different EOL values, so verify each before substituting.

What this product is, and is not
The EOL-10 is a passive electronic component. As a result, it carries no standalone UL listing. Instead, the panel’s UL listing assumes the panel-specified EOL value is installed correctly. In addition, do not substitute a different ohm value: the panel will read it as a trouble.
