The Bosch FAA-440-B6 is a 6-inch (16 cm) analog standard base for the FAA-440 detector family. First, the base mounts to the ceiling or back box. Then a compatible FAP-440 smoke head or FAH-440 heat head snaps onto the base.
Specifically, the FAA-440-B6 connects the detector head to the analog addressable SLC loop. In addition, terminal screws on the base provide connection points for the remote LED and Data In/Out conductors. As a result, the panel sees the detector through this base interface.
Where the Bosch FAA-440-B6 fits
Choose the 6-inch FAA-440-B6 when the install requires a larger flange to cover the back-box opening or ceiling cutout. Alternatively, choose the 4-inch FAA-440-B4 for smaller footprints. Also a FAA-440-ISO variant adds a built-in short-circuit isolator to protect the rest of the SLC loop.
Verified specifications
Per Bosch FAA-440 base datasheet, the standby current draw is 0.07 mA. In addition, alarm current is 10 mA. Specifically, the SLC loop operating voltage spans 24 VDC to 41 VDC. Furthermore, internal resistance is less than 50 Ω. Also on time is less than 30 ms.
Environmental ratings
The FAA-440-B6 carries an IP 42 protection rating. In addition, relative humidity tolerance is less than 95% non-condensing. Specifically, installation temperature is 32 °F to 100 °F (0 °C to 38 °C). Also operating temperature without a CO sensor spans -13 °F to +176 °F (-25 °C to +80 °C).
Mounting
First, mount the base to a 4-inch electrical box or onto exposed ceiling. Then route SLC and remote-LED wiring through the back. Finally, the base’s security locking tab can prevent unauthorized detector removal.
