The Edwards G4SVRF is a Genesis LED G4S Series wall-mount speaker-strobe in a red housing with FIRE marking. First, it combines high-fidelity voice audio with an LED clear strobe in a single low-profile appliance. As a result, one device serves both audible and visual notification on a NAC circuit.
The strobe is field-selectable at 15, 30, 75, or 110 cd. Specifically, these are DISCRETE settings, not a continuous range. Furthermore, the LED design draws the same current regardless of cd setting. As a result, system sizing is simpler than with Xenon strobes.
Verified Strobe Specifications
Operating voltage is 16 to 33 VDC filtered or 16 to 33 VFWR unfiltered. Then current draw is 28 mA at 16-33 VDC across all cd settings (36 mA on VFWR). Strobe flash rate is approximately one flash per second. Also, the strobe is UL 1971 listed for hearing-impaired wall notification.
Verified Speaker Specifications
The speaker selects between 25 VRMS and 70 VRMS via a slide switch under the cover. Then wattage taps configure 1/4, 1/2, 1, or 2 W output. Sound output at 10 feet (reverberant, UL 1480) is 78 dBA at 1/4 W rising to 87 dBA at 2 W. Furthermore, Speech Transmission Index is 0.81 for excellent voice intelligibility. The speaker is also 520 Hz capable for sleeping areas.
Synchronization
For multi-strobe installations, sync sources include Edwards CC Series Signal Modules, booster and auxiliary power supplies, and intelligent or conventional control panels. As a result, the G4SVRF holds UL 1971 sync tolerance (within 10 ms over two hours). However, maximum wire resistance between any two devices is 20 ohms for sync to work.
Mounting Requirements
The G4SVRF requires the GRSW room side wiring plate, ordered SEPARATELY in 10-packs (GRSW-10). Then the appliance snaps onto the pre-wired plate. Compatible electrical boxes are 2-gang and 4-inch square. Dimensions are 4.95 inches wide by 5.78 inches high by 1.62 inches deep. Optional G4TR (red) or G4TW (white) trim plates cover oversized openings.
Diagnostics
An under-cover diagnostic test port allows voltage measurement during commissioning and service. Furthermore, the GRSW plate includes a continuity check bar for pre-wiring verification. As a result, faults are identified before final mounting.
