The Kidde GSA-IM2 is a fault isolator module for the Signature addressable loop. First, it monitors the loop wiring for a short circuit. Then, on detecting a fault, it opens the loop in both directions.
As a result, the short is segregated from the rest of the loop. In addition, devices upstream and downstream of the fault keep working. Finally, the isolator automatically restores when the short is cleared.
How the Kidde GSA-IM2 Works
The GSA-IM2 plugs onto a Signature mounting base. Then, it sits inline between groups of devices on the loop. Furthermore, multiple isolators divide the loop into protected segments.
In addition, the panel sees the isolator as a Signature point. As a result, the isolator’s status — normal, isolating, or restored — is reported at the loop controller.
