The Potter PAD100-ZM zone module connects conventional devices to an addressable fire alarm panel. First, it monitors a zone of conventional 2-wire smoke detectors. Then it reports that zone to the panel over the SLC loop. As a result, installers can mix conventional and addressable hardware on one system.
How the Potter PAD100-ZM zone module works
The module uses a single SLC loop address. Specifically, it supervises two Class B circuits or one Class A circuit. Also, an onboard DIP switch selects the wiring style. In addition, a seven-position DIP switch sets the address from 1 to 127.
However, the module needs its own 24VDC auxiliary power. Therefore, connect it to a Potter IPA series panel or a Potter PSN series power supply. As a result, the monitored zone stays fully supervised.
Mounting and applications
The PAD100-ZM mounts in a standard electrical box. For example, use a 2-gang box or a 4-inch square box. As a result, it drops cleanly into commercial fire alarm layouts. Furthermore, it suits retrofits where older conventional detectors remain in service.
