Mircom PS-3B Tri-Volt Transformer for TX3 Intercom Systems
The Mircom PS-3B is a tri-voltage transformer for Mircom TX3 intercom and access control panels. First, it accepts 110-120 VAC at 50/60 Hz on the primary side. Then it provides three tapped low-voltage outputs on the secondary.
Outputs are 8 VAC at 13 VA, 16 VAC at 17 VA, and 24 VAC at 20 VA. As a result, the same transformer can power different TX3 hardware combinations. Specifically, installers tap the secondary that matches each panel’s voltage requirement.
Mircom PS-3B output combinations
The 8 VAC tap supports legacy Mircom audio intercom amplifiers. The 16 VAC tap is the standard supply for TX3-CX two-door access controllers via the PS-4 input convention. Furthermore, the 24 VAC tap drives newer Mircom TX3 lobby panels.
In addition, the unit uses Class B insulation. The transformer is cUL listed for Canada and the United States.
Form factor
The PS-3B is built for standard electrical box or panel mounting. However, the line side terminates with screw lugs — not a plug. Therefore an electrician should land the 120 VAC primary. As a result, this is the right choice when a duplex outlet is not available at the panel location.
