The Potter PS15-2 is a supervisory pressure switch used to monitor air or water pressure in fire protection systems. Specifically, it signals the fire alarm panel when pressure falls outside an acceptable range.
First, the switch is plumbed into a sprinkler or dry-pipe line. Then, if pressure drifts past the trip point, it changes state and reports a supervisory condition.
What the Potter PS15-2 Monitors
Wet and dry sprinkler systems depend on stable pressure to stay armed. In addition, low pressure or air-leak conditions can leave the system unable to deliver water in a fire.
Therefore the PS15-2 sits between the piping and the panel as a supervisory device. As a result, the panel can flag a trouble before the protection actually fails.
Where the PS15-2 Is Used
You will see the PS15-2 on commercial sprinkler systems, dry-pipe valves, standpipes, and air-maintenance setups. Furthermore, it pairs with most fire alarm control panels that accept a supervisory contact closure.
