The Siemens XMI is the MXL Interface Card for FireFinder XLS panels. In short, it is a line card that lets a FireFinder XLS chassis drive MXL-protocol device loops. As a result, sites can transition from MXL to XLS panels while keeping their existing field devices.
Siemens XMI role in an XLS panel
The XMI installs in a FireFinder XLS card slot. Then, it presents an MXL-format device loop on its terminals. Therefore, legacy MXL detectors and modules can be re-terminated onto an XLS panel without being replaced.
