The Siemens ZB-R is a red mounting back box for Z-series notification appliances. Specifically, it provides the surface-mount enclosure that Z-series horns, strobes, and horn/strobes attach to. As a result, installers get a clean, code-style mount on wall surfaces without a recessed electrical box.

Selecting the right back box
Z-series appliances offer both flush and surface mounting options. Therefore, only order the ZB-R when surface mount is required. For flush installations, the standard 4-inch square back box behind the wall is typically used instead.
