The Simplex 2080-9070 is a surface-mount maintenance switch for Simplex fire alarm systems. It is the version without a disconnect indicator lamp (the 2080-9060 is the lamp-equipped version).
First, the technician presses the momentary pushbutton on the stainless steel single-gang plate. Then the switch opens the connection to the output circuit. In addition, it places a 16.2 kΩ resistor across the input circuit. As a result, the host panel reports a supervisory condition while the field circuit is taken out of service for maintenance.

When to Use the 2080-9070
Specifically, this maintenance switch is used to take a notification appliance circuit, IDC, or auxiliary circuit out of service for maintenance without dropping the rest of the panel into trouble. Therefore, it is common during testing, drill prep, and component swaps where a momentary disconnect with full supervisory reporting is required.
