The Simplex 4098-9605 is a TrueAlarm analog addressable photoelectric smoke sensor. It serves special-application locations that need a reduced nominal sensitivity of 3.5%/ft. As a result, it resists nuisance alarms in demanding environments.
How the Simplex 4098-9605 Senses Smoke
The sensor uses a pulsed infrared LED source and a silicon photodiode receiver. It then sends analog smoke measurements to the host fire alarm control panel. Communication runs over IDNet or MAPNET II two-wire circuits. In addition, the sensor provides 360-degree smoke entry for fast response.
Panel Monitoring and Compensation
The control panel monitors each sensor’s sensitivity individually. Therefore, the system satisfies NFPA 72 sensitivity-monitoring requirements. Furthermore, the panel performs automatic environmental compensation. It also logs a peak value for every 4098-9605 device.
Base Compatibility
The sensor fits standard 2-wire and 4-wire Simplex TrueAlarm bases. In addition, a magnetic test feature simplifies routine inspection. The locking base design also resists tampering. Compatible panels include the 4010, 4010ES, 4100ES, and 4100U over IDNet, plus the 4020 and 4100 over MAPNET II.
