The Simplex 4098-9755 is a multi-criteria TrueAlarm sensor. Specifically, it combines photoelectric smoke and heat sensing in a single addressable sensor head. In addition, it twists onto a Simplex TrueAlarm base for fast field replacement.
First, the sensor monitors both smoke obscuration and temperature continuously. Then, on-board algorithms cross-check both inputs to reduce nuisance alarms. As a result, the 4098-9755 reaches an alarm decision faster than single-sensor heads in many fire scenarios.
How the Simplex 4098-9755 Works
First, the sensor sends raw smoke and heat values back to the panel over MAPNET II / IDNet. Then the panel runs the alarm/calibration algorithm centrally. Therefore, sensitivity, drift compensation, and pre-alarm reporting are handled at the panel, not in the head.
In addition, the panel can map each sensor by address to a specific room or device label. Specifically, this enables point identification on the operator display rather than generic zone reporting. Furthermore, drift compensation extends the time between cleanings in most environments.
