The Simplex 2190-9163 is a surface-mount Control Relay Zone Addressable Module (ZAM). It gives a Simplex addressable fire alarm panel one DPDT relay output for auxiliary control.
Typical uses include elevator capture, HVAC shutdown, pressurization fan control, and damper actuation. In addition, the ZAM reports its relay state back to the panel. As a result, the panel can verify that the controlled function actually fired.
The 2190-9163 communicates over IDNet or MAPNET II addressable SLC wiring. Therefore, one device address controls the dry-contact output remotely from the fire alarm panel. Furthermore, both data and operating power come from the addressable channel — no separate 24 VDC feed is required.
