The Simplex 4098-9682 is a 4-wire mounting base with an auxiliary alarm relay output. It is used with Simplex TrueAlarm photoelectric and heat detectors on conventional 4-wire initiating device circuits. The catalog number is 0677211; the datasheet is S4098-0015.
First, the detector head plugs into the base. Then the base’s Form C relay closes when the detector alarms. As a result, local control functions — HVAC shutdown, door release, sprinkler valve — can be driven without an interface module at the panel.
In addition, the base provides terminals for a remote alarm LED indicator. Therefore, an LED can be mounted outside the protected room while the detector itself sits in the ceiling.
