The Simplex 4009-9814 is the simplex IDNAC repeater adapter for Class A output.
Specifically, it is the Class A Adapter Module for the 4009 IDNAC repeater. First, the adapter mounts directly on the repeater controller board. Then it enables a Class A output loop from the repeater.

Class A wiring provides a supervised return path for notification circuits. Therefore, the loop keeps working through a single open or short.
