The Simplex 4906-9139 is a non-addressable horn/strobe for fire alarm notification. It mounts on a wall in a red housing. Specifically, it pairs an electronic horn with a high-intensity multi-candela strobe.
Simplex 4906-9139 strobe and horn
First, the strobe intensity is field-selectable at 135, 177, or 185 candela. In addition, a selection plug behind the housing sets the value. As a result, one model covers several candela requirements.
The strobe flashes once per second from a regulated 24 VDC design. Also, the horn produces a 2,400-3,700 Hz swept tone. Therefore, it can run steady or in a coded pattern, such as Temporal or March Time. Its anechoic output reaches about 92 dBA at 10 feet.
Synchronization and listings
This appliance is compatible with Simplex SmartSync two-wire control. Consequently, the horn can be silenced while the strobe keeps flashing on one circuit. Furthermore, the strobe is UL listed to Standard 1971 and the horn to Standard 464. The device is also ULC, CSFM, and FM listed, and meets ADA requirements.
