• Green flash every 10 seconds: normal operation, sensitivity within rated limits
• Yellow flash every 4 seconds: Trouble condition — detector needs repair or replacement
• Red flash every 1 second: Alarm condition
• No flash: detector is not powered

Furthermore, the multi-color lamp verifies calibration of compatible conventional detectors such as the PE-11 and OP121. This supports NFPA 72 periodic test requirements without opening the duct housing.
