The fireray (5000-004) is the long-range prism kit for the Fireray 5000 beam smoke detector. It supplies the extra reflective prisms needed for long-range coverage. Specifically, it extends the detector toward the upper end of its range.
In addition, the Fireray 5000 projects an infrared beam to these prisms. The prisms reflect the beam back to the detector for analysis. As a result, smoke in the beam path triggers an alarm.
When to Use the fireray (5000-004) Prism Kit
The Fireray 5000 covers up to 100 m (328 ft) on a single beam. However, the longer distances require additional prisms. Therefore, this long-range kit pairs with the detector for spans toward that 100 m maximum.
Beam detection suits large, open spaces. For example, warehouses, atriums, and aircraft hangars benefit most. Also, high-ceiling areas where point detectors are impractical are ideal candidates.
