The Genesis 50781101 is a 24 AWG, 4-pair solid Category 5e riser-rated network cable from Southwire’s Genesis® line. It is U/UTP (unshielded twisted pair) for Ethernet and structured cabling applications. As a result, it supports voice and data networks in commercial buildings. The cable ships in white, 1000 feet per pull-out box.

Installation Applications
First, the CMR rating allows vertical riser runs between floors. Then, the cable also installs in metal raceways per NEC 300.22(B). However, this cable is NOT plenum-rated. Therefore, do not install it in air handling spaces; choose the plenum Cat 5e equivalent instead.
About the Application
Cat 5e cable supports Gigabit Ethernet up to 100 meters. In addition, it carries voice and structured cabling traffic in IP-based building systems. However, it is a communications cable, not a power-limited fire alarm cable. As a result, dedicated fire alarm circuits require an FPLR-rated cable instead.
