The Notifier HS-NCM-SF is a High-Speed Network Communications Module with a single-mode fiber-optic interface. It connects compatible Notifier nodes to High-Speed NOTI•FIRE•NET (NFN). Specifically, single-mode fiber lets the NFN reach long distances between buildings with strong noise immunity.
This module connects NFS-320, NFS-640, NFS2-640, NFS-3030, and NFS2-3030 FACPs to the NFN. In addition, it connects NCA and NCA-2 Network Control Annunciators and the DVC Digital Voice Command panel. Furthermore, each HS-NCM can carry up to two node addresses on a single board.
How the Notifier HS-NCM-SF works on the network
The HS-NCM-SF transmits at 100 Mb baud over 9/125 µm single-mode fiber. Furthermore, data is regenerated at every node, and optical isolation eliminates ground loops. In addition, two network ports allow simultaneous connection to the FACP and to a programming computer.
When not connected to a panel, the module defaults to repeater mode. As a result, it can boost signal distance or bridge wire and fiber segments. Also, fiber must exit Port A on one node’s TX. Then it enters Port B on the next node’s RX.
