The Simplex 2088-9681 is a 1-inch chrome catch plate extension rod for electromagnetic door holders. Specifically, it lets the door holder catch plate sit farther off the door surface. As a result, you can correct mounting misalignment between the door-mounted armature and the wall-mounted electromagnet.
This rod is a door holder accessory. It is NOT a pull station part. Therefore, do not order it for pull station repair or replacement.
What the Simplex 2088-9681 Does
Electromagnetic door holders hold fire-rated doors open during normal building operations. Then, on a fire alarm signal, the panel drops power and the door swings closed. However, the catch plate on the door must align cleanly with the magnet face. Otherwise, holding force drops below the 25-lb minimum required by UL 228.
In real-world installations, door surfaces, frames, and magnet placement often do not match perfectly. As a result, you may need to push the catch plate forward by a fraction of an inch. The 2088-9681 adds exactly 1 inch of standoff between the door and the catch plate. Furthermore, the chrome finish keeps the part visually consistent with the matching chrome catch plate.
