The Simplex 4090-9001 is an Individual Addressable Module (IAM). It monitors normally open dry contact inputs. Specifically, it brings non-addressable contact devices onto a Simplex IDNet or MAPNET II addressable loop.
First, the module receives both power and data from a single two-wire IDNet or MAPNET II circuit. Then, it supervises the contact wiring out to an end-of-line resistor. As a result, the panel sees the exact device that changed state — not just a zone fault.
Common Uses for the Simplex 4090-9001
Typical applications include sprinkler waterflow switches and tamper switches. In addition, it can monitor conventional smoke or heat detector zones. Also, the IAM is the standard way to bring any contact-closure initiating device into a Simplex addressable system.
The 4090-9001 occupies one address per module. Therefore, you get device-level identification on alarm.

Status Reporting
On IDNet, the 4090-9001 reports four-state status:
- NORMAL
- OPEN
- CURRENT-LIMITED
- SHORT
On MAPNET II, the module reports three states: NORMAL, OPEN, and ALARM.
